Workshop Site and Travelling

PIT06 will be held at the Schwäbisches Tagungs- und Bildungszentrum Kloster Irsee www.kloster-irsee.de
in the south of Germany. All attendees are
accommodated at Kloster Irsee
or in a nearby Hotel. Kloster Irsee is 7 km from Kaufbeuren and about 90 km from Munich. Kaufbeuren
has a train station with convenient connections to Augsburg
and Munich.
Please note that the FIFA World Cup
will take place in Germany
from June 9th - July 9th 2006. We therefore strongly recommend to book
flights as early as possible since some matches take place in the South of Germany (Munich,
Stuttgart, Nuremberg).
Travelling from Munich
international airport (easiest way):
A regular train service from Munich
airport brings you to the central station in Munich in about 40 minutes. Half-hourly
train connections will bring you to Kaufbeuren in
about 1 hour. From here it is easy to reach the workshop site Kloster Irsee by taxi. Please

Travelling from Nuremberg airport
There
are a number of low-cost airlines going from and to Nuremberg airport. A regular train service
from Nuremberg airport (U2) brings you to Nuremberg central
station in about 30 minutes. From there, you can get to Kaufbeuren
in about 2:90 - 2:50 hours (usually change in Augsburg Hbf).

Travelling from Stuttgart
airport
A regular train service from Stuttgart
airport brings you to Stuttgart
central station in about 30 minutes. From there, you can get to Kaufbeuren in about 2:30 - 3:00 hours (change in Augsburg
Hbf or Kempten). Half-hourly train
connections will bring you to Kaufbeuren in about 1
hour. From here it is easy to reach the workshop site Kloster

Travelling from Frankfurt
Airport (Train station:

There are several ways to get from Frankfurt Airport
(Flughafen Fernbahnhof)
to Kaufbeuren. One option is to take the train to
Augsburg Hbf (about 3 hours) and travel from there
to Kaufbeuren (about 1 hour). From here it is easy

Travelling from Zürich
Airport (Switzerland):
There are several ways to get from Zürich Airport to Kaufbeuren.
The easiest options is to take the train to Buchloe (about 3:30 hours). From there, take the train to
Kaufbeuren (about 15 minutes). From here it is easy
to reach the workshop site Kloster Irsee by taxi. Other options are to travel via Lindau. However, in this case you will have to change trains

Travelling from Salzburg Airport (Austria):
Recently cheap flights became available from London Stansted to Salzburg,
Austria. You
may get by bus to Salzburg Central Station (about 20 minutes). There are
regular train connections to Munich
(about 2 hours). Half-hourly train connections will bring you to Kaufbeuren in about 1 hour. From here it is easy to reach
the workshop site Kloster Irsee

Hotels in Munich and Augsburg
