The
German Chapter
of the
IEEE Information theory society
presents the first annual IEEE International workshop on
concatenated codes. Planning for this workshop is organized by the
department of information technology
of the
University of Ulm.
The workshop will take place at
Schloß Reisensburg
located approximately 40 km from Ulm, and runs from October 3rd to 5th.
The program will begin on Sunday evening
with an informal reception. Information on the
technical program
and
booking
are now available for reference:
The goal of this workshop is to provide a small forum for the presentation of
recent work in the area of concatenated coding.
For this reason, the number of participants is limited to 40.
Three guest speakers will be giving special lectures on selected
topics. Professor Hagenauer from the Technical University in München
will give a presentation on turbo codes, Professor Benedetto from
the Polytechnick Institute in Torino will discuss concepts on serial
concatenated codes, and Dr. Zyablov will talk on generalized code concatenation
(in case of extenuating circumstances, this
presentation will be given by Professor Bossert of the University
of Ulm).
Presentations will be given covering the following
topics:
Construction and performance
analysis of concatenated codes:
Decoding of concatenated codes:
Block codes
Bounded distance decoding
Coded modulation
Iterative decoding
Convolutional codes
List decoding
Turbo codes
Soft decision decoding
Woven codes
